CHINOOK'S EDGE SCHOOL DIVISION, BOARD TRUSTEE - WARD 9

McEACHERN

As your Public School Board Trustee, I will advocate for policies that will strengthen  our schools

As your Public School board Trustee I am committed to ensuring open communication, bringing all questions or concerns of parents and caregivers to the Board and/or the Government of Alberta.

I will advocate for policies that prioritize the wellbeing of students first. Ensuring our schools are a safe place for all students, teachers and administrators is key in upholding a strong public education system, and a strong community.

Per a recent report conducted by Statistics Canada, Alberta has the lowest per-student spending in the country - well below the national average.  Furthermore, classrooms are becoming increasingly complex, with more students requiring additional supports. I will advocate for funding to meet the needs of all students.

I believe that public education funds belong in Public schools. I will advocate for public schools to be prioritized by the Alberta government with funding allocated accordingly.

CESD Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that the schools within Chinook’s Edge School Division are situated on Treaty 6 and 7 land, home of the First Nations (Dene, Nehiyawak (Cree), Nakoda, Anishinaabe, Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), Tsuu T’ina), the Métis Nation of Alberta, and Inuit Peoples. From the majestic mountain views, vast prairies, and skies of the chinook arch, we express gratitude for the beauty and abundance these lands provide.

In recognizing the harmony of earth, plants, water, and wind that breathe life into all we do, we strive to learn and grow as a community while cherishing individual differences. This land acknowledgment represents our commitment to reconciliation, connecting us to those who once walked these lands and forging a path together for the generations to come.
